Comstar Systems is a company that supports a multidisciplinary structure. We recognise, value and understand the vital contributions our employees provide towards our business growth and we will continue to build our expertise by offering extensive mentoring and training to all staff.

Offering a multi – skilled team of 73, which includes communications engineers, designers, technical officers, riggers, project managers and a electrician’s deliver turnkey solutions in Telecommunications.

In acknowledgement of our staff focused approach Comstar Systems  was awarded the  2012 Tasmanian and national Australian Small Employer of the Year Award.


John Miedecke    (Chairman)

John is a qualified civil and environmental engineer who has over 40 years  experience in  the mining industry. With a deep understanding of engineering, supported by a keen business acumen, John has over his extensive career undertaken senior management roles across Australia and internationally. John also has been involved in setting up several successful consulting and construction companies in Tasmania, as well as being an active board member for several listed companies including Beaconsfield Gold mine and Mount Rommel Mining Ltd.

As a director of Comstar Systems, John provides extensive business experience and company corporate governance.

Catherine Hammersley – Cave                 (Managing Director)

Since the formation of Comstar Systems in 2009, Catherine has held the role of Managing Director and  has overseen the strong growth and expansion of the company.

Catherine’s primary and ongoing focus is to develop new business opportunities for the company whilst building sustainable business relationships with our clients. A high priority is the development of the company’s people and a commitment to building the success of Comstar Systems around our core values.

With a working history in brand creation, financial management and new business development, Catherine brings innovative skills to the management team.


The Comstar Systems Management structure has been developed to accommodate succession, the creation of real career pathways and to always focus on ongoing training.
